Revised Lesson Plans for Week of 9.14.09

Wednesday/Thursday

This might be subject to change, a little, because of Constitution Day. However, the bigger change applies to all students. I have a projector, so I will do my brief Fahrenheit 451 presentation. Then we will go over the vocabulary words (if time—but that will be the first thing to sacrifice if we do not). I will assign parts and we will enact the play from pp. 356 (bottom of the page where the Herald speaks) to the top of page 372, before Cassandra speaks. If we don’t get to that page, you will still be expected to know the information through that page and beyond—all the way until page 379 (stopping at line 1358). Instead of a reading quiz on Monday/Tuesday, we will finish the play in class on Monday/Tuesday and you will have a chance to ask questions before the quiz, which will now be scheduled for Wednesday/Thursday (September 23/24). By the way, students absent for quizzes must take a make-up quiz that will differ in content and in form. While there will likely be extra credit on a quiz taken on the day of the quiz, there will not on the make-up version. Students should take the quiz as soon as possible upon their return to school. For the first nine weeks, I will drop the lowest quiz grade (unless a low class-work or homework grade impacts your grade in a more positive way).
Mid-week homework (due Friday) remains vocabulary chapter one. Skip the last exercise, “Words in Context,” however.

Friday: I will still be checking your vocabulary. We will go over it together.
Friday’s homework: Read pp. 372-379 of “Agamemnon.”

* I did not get to the Fahrenheit 451 slide show for sixth or eighth, so we will do this on Tuesday. For my odd classes, it is now on the students' "shared" file under "Losen." Also on the shared file are questions and notes about what has been read in the play and what is to be read over the weekend.
