I will give you copies of my screenplay. I will assign students to read the various parts. I have never done this assignment before, so you--especially first period--will be helping me to shape it. You don't have a test grade yet, so I would like this to be your first test grade.
Some where in here we will do the advertising slide show. Maybe we will do that first....
Then we will review the reading over the weekend. There will be time for questions. Next, everyone will get a script. I will be the Vizier, narrator, and several students will play parts. We will talk about what I have done and why I have done it.
Students will work in groups of four. This means that students will have to act more than one part. Each group will draw lots. That is the story your group will be presenting. I do not have a rubric yet, but hope to have one some time tomorrow. Maybe we can form the rubric together.
All students are responsible for stories from The First Night to the Eighth Night but only for presenting one of those nights as a group.
I suppose that our next step will be to, as a class, find a way that we could potentially present the second story (keeping in mind making it G-rated). Together, we will decide what the parts are, and how we will enact it.
The remainder of the period should be spent in reading or working with your groups on this project. Remember to bring your vocabulary books on Wednesday/Thursday, as well as your Norton's. I'm going to try to get us signed up for a computer lab so that we can work on this project in class.
Wednesday/Thursday
Go over vocabulary words. Ideally, we will also go to a computer lab. Before we begin, you will enter your personal information on my website, if you haven't done so already. Work the entire period. I will be walking around to see what you are doing and to give feedback.
Friday
Vocabulary chapter three is due. Finish project over the weekend. I expect to see it, along with drafts of your work (so print it out each time you make changes or write on drafts). On Monday/ Tuesday, you should have a final draft. You will have assigned parts and will act out (yourselves or do a puppet show or a radio soap opera, complete with sound effects).
